At this point, death is death-- shit, it's been inevitable from day-fucking-one. Now it's just more... devoted. Kinda admirable, if you think about it.
I've known one or two. [Or... most everyone he'd ever met. And that was before this whole insanity of walking corpses. He'd lived a very long time after all.]
I could certainly do with a bit less devotion. Makes it hard to give attention to much else.
Everyone dies. I'm not denying that. [Although he was trying to avoid it for himself for as long as possible. Being immortal certainly helped in that goal. But it wasn't assured.] But sometimes it happens far too soon and for no good reason. [But even a couple hundred years. A thousand. It wasn't long enough.]
True. But there's no reason to rush to it first when there are other possibilities. [That didn't mean Methos was above killing people. Far from it! Especially if it kept himself alive (which was his foremost concern). It just wasn't his first choice.]
You are right, that rushing to death is difficult to understand... Although, it does depend on the reason, to rush-- there are reasons, and some that vary on circumstance. Some acceptable, some others might not view that way.
You're referring to the inevitability of the thing. [Someday Methos might die, but he'd made a pretty good run of it thus far.] It will happen for everyone. Eventually. I'm not pretending that's not the case.
[Although perhaps he hoped he may be the exception.]
[ Pushes the glow stronger than before, brighter. ]
Death is private-- or... the ideas one holds. They tend to be. It's something that is hard to talk about honestly. It makes sense. You're broaching the topic for a reason, though.
{Methos was eyeing him, curious. Was he seeing things, or was the man brighter than before?] 'The ideas one hold.' Are you talking about what comes after death? The ideas people have on that...?
I've never been all that convinced there is anything beyond it. Which is why I try to avoid it at all costs. [Perhaps he knew differently?]

Death is very... final. I don't think people really appreciate that fact until they're faced with it. And maybe not even then.

[ Laughing his fill, he drops back against the back of his seat and stretches out his legs, openly entertained. ]
See, that! That sounds like a personal problem, guy.

What problems aren't personal? [Methos asked, smiling back his joviality far less boisterous as his current companions.]

People die. It's a thing. God's little shit-stirrer.

You sound troubled.

I'm no more troubled than usual. I've had too many reckless friends.

[ Smiles.]
That's understandable, then. Honestly, we were not talking about the same things... but sometimes, I understand why someone might be reckless.

What were you talking about, then? Spread some light on your side of the conversation.

Death can be the only option. Which, I suppose, makes the word "option" a funny sort.

To some extent.

[ Too much of this seems to be blowing back, so he sucks in a gentle breath and musters a standard issue smile. ]
If you can. It makes sense -- to avoid the beyond. It's not a choice, often enough.
