I fulfilled my purpose. My test flight was a success, just-- Not in the way they'd intended.

[ As for someone he cares about... He loved his wife. He's sure he did, once. But all that is so far behind him. To love one person is meaningless, once you've seen beyond the stars. ]

There are so many ways forward.
