[Shame, almost, that he doesn't realize how much he really has in common with who he's talking to.]
Umm.... I bet momma would. I'll go ask her!
[She carefully sets her little plastic cup down on the tray on the blanket and gets to her feet.]
I'll be right back.
[She carefully picks up her rabbit doll, carrying it against her shoulder like a baby, and heads back into the house. She exits again about three minutes later, now wearing what looks like her school backpack, and closes the door behind her. Rather than heading back to her little picnic blanket there on the front lawn, she goes to the gate. She opens it, then closes it behind her, and cheerfully heads toward where he's standing there on the sidewalk, bunny doll still her arms. It's coming along too.]
I know where it is now! Come on, I'll show you!
[Small child wants to lead him somewhere herself, and her mom's not trailing behind her or calling for her to come back. In fact, she hasn't been seen yet, or heard....]
[The lack of a parental figure has been noted, and is worrisome. Jimmy looks back towards the house, quietly hoping that some kind of parental figure will come out and stop their daughter from wandering off with a strange man to God knows where.
He turns back to the girl, concern starting to tip over into worry.]
Are you sure? That your mom said it was okay? You can just give me the directions if you'd prefer.
[Little girl shaped being or not, letting her walk off with a stranger is setting off all kinds of red flags.]
No... no, I'd like to get something from the store too. I have some money. [She's not addressing those other issues. Either she missed the point, or she's ignoring it.]
[Just gonna cheerfully head down the sidewalk, leading on] It's this way!
Layla. I'm Layla Summers. [She says it proudly, turning around to walk backwards for a few steps so she can give him a bow as she does. Girls her age tend to be into the princess stuff anyway; it doesn't seem out of place for her in that regard. Nor with that smile, all happy to do introductions. Whatever's off about her - and her doll, maybe - it isn't how she's acting. Still doesn't feel particularly angelic or demonic, though. Is it possible for those sorts of things to be neutral, in terms of what they are?
She turns back around again quickly enough though. That she was already a few steps ahead meant he wouldn't have had to slow down for her to do that, and she hurries a few steps ahead again to lead the way, plenty confident about the route to take.]
I'm going to get hazelnut syrup for momma's coffee and sparacus for dinner, so momma doesn't have to. What're you going to get? [She gives him an innocent smile, just making conversation]
It's very good to meet you, Layla. And thank you for your help. I'm hoping to get directions and a local map. Possibly with a taxi ride to top it off.
[Jimmy wasn't sure he could afford a taxi, but it'll be an acceptable write off if the cab can make it here and get him back out again.
He's definitely getting a sense of other off Layla. He's got no idea what she actually is, but she's not human by any stretch. And at this point,as long as she's not actively trying to eat him, Jimmy's not that worried about it.
Of course, Jimmy being forcefully reminded of his own daughter might let Layla soar past any concerns he might have had.]

Well, alright then. Just... don't go wandering too far off. I wouldn't know where to go if we got separated.
And I don't believe we've been properly introduced. My name's Jimmy. Jimmy Novak. And your name is?
[Well, at the least he can make sure she gets back home again safely.]
