[His fear vanished by degrees after the jump, as if the rushing wind itself blew it away. He felt a rush of exhilaration, even openly laughing as the wind and the sky caught him up.

As if automatically, magic sparked over his arms and formed black feathers, creating more wing-like shapes. He winced a bit like it pained him, the partial transformation to his bird form (that he never could quite completely all the way anyway), but on reopening his eyes and glancing himself over he laughed again. The wind felt somehow better going through his feathers.

He didn't flap but he did keep the wings out, catching the air, then swept them alongside his body. Whatever apprehension was felt before was completely forgotten now, and he looked to be having the time of his life.]
