There are friends and family, children who were silenced before they could truly spread their wings and fly. [ Her voice is softer and even holds a touch of affection for those she had lost over time. ] Time has taken many including those I wish I could bring back to my side.
(( ooc: Yeah that really sucks. I'm getting screwed over onto doing back to back twelve shifts. rip having a life ))
[His expression when she mentions people, children, dying too young reflects a deeply personal pain. He sighs and rests a hand on her shoulder.]
It's the worst feeling in the world. We carry them with us, but having them back would be...
[He sighs and shakes his head, for once at a bit of a loss for words.]
(ooc: we do what we have to *hugs* I remember 12 hour back-to-backs from when I worked in a hospital. brutal. I hope you don't have to continue for long. hang in there!)
You're right, of course. Our memories of them are so powerful and so comforting.
But it's such a waste, too...
(ooc: I hear you, but I'm about to start a full month of shifts running to or past midnight, and that's feeling pretty terrible and permanent at the moment, lol. I feel like I'll get absolutely zero threading done and never see my real or my online friends at all... it'll be worth it since I'll be making more money afterwards and have the same shift all the time for at least 6 months after, but.. yech. I don't like shifts that run past 8 or 9 at night. my brain just doesn't function the same after hours, and I'm going to have to change my whole medication schedule to work around the new shifts. good times, good times)
You are right. The loss of life is a waste but it is what we must face as mortals. It is also our duty not be dragged down by the weight of loss.
((ooc: oh my gods that sounds so awful but I hope the money will be at least worth it in some way. I'm the same though I hate working past even six or seven pm because it's like...nah I'm done thinking now. I hope the transition isn't too rough . ))
No, they wouldn't want that for us. It's one thing to remember, but something else to get lost in those memories and lose sight of the present, and the future.
(ooc: right? it's like a trial by combat, only sitting at a desk. da fuq am I meant to stay awake, let alone coherent and in possession of halfway decent judgment? It'll definitely be interesting, lol. Thanks. I'm sure I'll manage. It'll just take adequate willpower. Or something...)

To have them would be more than a dream come true. The desire to have them back cannot overcome the loves and memories of what we did have with them.
((ooc: jobs. /shrugs we'll get through the woes of work! no job can stay terrible forever and that helps. ))
