[Captain Kirk doesn't tend to thrash himself awake. For as high energy and boisterous of a person as he usually is, he's eerily still when his eyes snap open. Taking in his surroundings. Deeming it safe to move and make others aware he's woken up.
This isn't the dive they were at. The aches and pains he remembers are a foggy distant memory replaced by nothing more than a slight stiffness in his muscles that attest to how long he's been asleep.]
Spock was hurt, too.
[He doesn't bother trying to argue with his best friend about whether or not Jim was an idiot. That fact won't dislodge itself from his mind. Spock was hurt.]
Where is he now? I need--
[They don't want him trying to get out of the bed, but Jim is a hard man to dissuade, especially when he's worried about someone.]
[And it's Jim's stubborn nature that has McCoy bellowing into the comm for Spock to get his ass down to sickbay before Kirk pulls "another idiotic stunt".
Four minutes. It's probably a record as Spock makes a direct line to Kirk's bedside.]
Captain. Jim. I am unharmed. [Which only draws a snort from McCoy because he "sure as hell didn't come to sickbay that way".]
[There's fire in Jim's eyes as he argues with McCoy to let him up so he can do his goddamned job--a fire that dies down when Spock makes his entrance and looks remarkably ordinary compared to how Jim remembered him being when he was last awake.]
Spock--you're. You're fine.
[Bones throws his hands up in the air. As if he hadn't said so ten dozen times in the time it took the commander to get down here himself. Grumble. He's going to get his tricorder and run some scans and Jim better be there when he comes back with said device.
Jim's hand reaches out and touches his first officer's sleeve gently. He's even changed into clean garments.]
I'm sorry. I--You had to handle all of that. I mean.
[Pull yourself together, captain. He clears his throat.]
[Spock doesn't pull away from the touch. In fact he closes his hand gently around Kirk's. With McCoy out of the room, he can allow himself a small display of affection.]
The Tribbles have been placed into stasis. The Klingons are on route back to their home world.

I have handled matters, Captain. Please. Rest.
